The first all-female company with no men

Producer Samantha Brick decided to create a completely male-free company. Did she succeed?

She says at the beginning of her story as written in the Daily Mail:
In one corner sat Alice, 27, who always said what she thought regardless of whether it would hurt someone else, and in the other corner sat Sarah, over 30, who would temporarily defend herself, then burst into tears in the bathroom.

Their battles lasted for hours as onlookers poured fuel on the fire, and some employees either joined the fray by aggressively siding with one side or huddling defensively in the bathrooms with the crying one, it may seem like a scene from reality TV, but the truth was more than that, it was just a normal morning at my office…

It was an idealistic vision hastily shattered by a nightmare reality: Constant nagging, escalating hormones, out-of-control emotions, attention-seeking, competing for attention, competing for fashion, tearing my team apart.

When I read what Christina Miller said: “There is no such thing as sisterhood,” I knew what she meant…

I used to believe in the idea of fraternization between women, but before women entered the war and destroyed me emotionally and financially…

(After taking out a £100,000 home equity loan, she set up the company in April 2005, and I’m going to quickly recount some of the situations she recounted for the length of the article)…

After meeting enough professional women who were enthusiastic about the idea but didn’t want to compromise on a very high salary, I hired a team of 7 women…

The divisiveness, partisanship, and fashion war started from the first week, with hurtful and insulting comments commenting on each other’s fancy dress, fake bronze…

I have always felt sorry for any employee who naively displays her new purchase in the company and receives a false compliment, then criticism and ridicule after she is out of earshot…

The deputy general manager refused to hire the most qualified girl for an assistant position because she didn’t like what she was wearing…

The office was like Milan’s catwalk for fashion shows in strength, and like a wrestling ring in mud. On the other hand, a strong friendship between two women ended because they received the same gift (a handbag worth 900 pounds) for Christmas…

It was a war between the “with makeup” group and the “without makeup” group and the comments were: “Haven’t you ever met a hairbrush before, otherwise people on the bus would think you’re a slut in the morning…

Even when I was eating a tuna sandwich, they called me a pig, even though I’m only a size 12…

There was one employee who was late every day because she was getting her hair dyed and when I checked with her, she blew up, at least she had a reason, most of them were late every day for no reason.

The discussions about shopping, lovers, and fashion were more important than working at the company. Once there was a conflict because an employee took another employee’s laptop and refused to return it, and I had to cancel my meetings and return to the company to resolve the dispute…

In an office full of only women, it means that one of them is going through this period all the time and the bad mood is quickly transferred to the others, and this argument, hormones and bad mood was the main reason for absenteeism…

One employee was having sex with two people at the same time. She would go around the office and ask the employees what to say to each of them…

In an office with no men, one employee was so horny that she had no shame in talking about the details of relationships during her sexual marathons, and I received many complaints about her…

The impact of testosterone deficiency was evident in the company and was clearly seen when she hired two male directors to work on a particular project, the team became calmer, worked harder, and became less distracted partly because they were busy flirting with the two men…

Two girls openly pursued one of the men even though he announced that he was with his life partner, when meeting with men, he showed bad behavior, and each employee was trying to look the most attractive, in one meeting one of the employees inserted her hand under her bra and took out her breast and said to him, “Do you see this?” and the man and I were shocked and speechless…

Making half a million in profits in the first year was supposed to be a good thing, but it was wiped out by high salaries and accounting errors… When we started the audit, Sarah (the manager) took a month off and admitted that she had been dodging financial claims calls, which ruined the company’s reputation…

In a desperate attempt, I sold my car to inject some money into the company, but in vain, and we declared bankruptcy in March 2007, less than two years after the establishment of the company…

If I were to do this again I would definitely hire men, and maybe I would only hire men…

And here I comment (Coach Karim): This is a practical example of what can happen when the male component is absent in any system. One of the basic gender functions of a man is to control, firmness, and return things to the right path in case the imbalance worsens, and to put aside emotions, destructive feelings, and moods from judgments and behaviors, as men have a high sense of responsibility and think rationally and logically more than women and are able to control and firmly to make the work successful…
